Neoehrlichia mikurensis is a pathogenic, gram - negative bacteria transmitted by ticks. It is the most common tick-transmitted pathogen. It has been found primarily in ticks and rodents in Europe and Asia. In Europe, human infections were reported for the first time in 2007. Three cases of the infection were confirmed, one of which was lethal. Now, it is recognized as a novel human pathogen. The symptoms of the infections are non-specific, with fever and headache. Other common symptoms of the infection include anemia, unconsciousness and deep vein thrombosis.
The DNA of Neoehrlichia mikurensis is detected in the sample using molecular methods.
