Borrelia miyamotoi is a tick-borne bacterium which has only recently been identified in Europe as a human pathogen causing relapsing fever. In contrast to Borrelia burgdorferi, the spirochetes of Borrelia miyamotoi achieve higher burdens in the blood than in the skin of their hosts.
IMPORTANT! Detection of Borrelia miyamotoi is possible ONLY using molecular methods. There are NO SEROLOGICAL tests for the detection of specific antibodies, so far.
Material: whole blood collected with anticoagulant (for example EDTA)
How to deliver: temperature +4°C
Method: PCR/nested PCR
