Babesia spp. are microscopic parasites that infect red blood cells and are spread by ticks. It causes a disease called babesiosis.
The DNA of Babesia sp. is detected in the sample using molecular methods. Additionally, in this test it is possible to distinguish three species, common in Europe, Babesia microti, Babesia divergens, Babesia venatorum.
